This Weekend: Doctor Who Stars Headline Comic Convention in Colchester

If you’re in or around Colchester, Essex this weekend, here’s your chance to meet the stars of various sci-fi franchises – of course including Doctor Who.
The GEEKS Comic Con takes place on 5th- 6th May in Colchester, although the guests will only appear on Saturday, while Sunday is dedicated to cosplaying.
The Sixth Doctor himself, Colin Baker headlines the event, and is joined by Terry Molloy (who played Davros in Resurrection of the Daleks, Revelation of the Daleks, and Remembrance of the Daleks, plus an appearance outside the prosthetics in Attack of the Cybermen); Ian McNeice, who played Winston Churchill in Victory of the Daleks, The Pandorica Opens, and The Wedding of River Song; and Simon Fisher-Becker, aka. Dorium Maldovar in The Pandorica Opens, A Good Man Goes to War, and The Wedding of River Song.
Ross Mullen will also be in attendance, though you might not recognise him – he’s normally hidden under a costume, as he played a Silent in The Time of the Doctor, the Teller in Time Heist, and a Wraith in Hell Bent.
Away from Doctor Who, Hattie Hayridge (Holly in Red Dwarf) will be there, alongside Captain America’s body double, Paul Warren; Harry Potter‘s Sally Mortemore; and James MacKenzie, who 1990s kids, myself included, will have fond memories of for his titular role in Raven (which has now come back to TV, the Nimon be praised).
The event takes place in the Charter Hall, Colchester Leisure World this weekend – but be quick because online tickets won’t last long. Fortunately, you can also buy tickets on the door, at a slightly increased rate.
