We have the time, we have the date and now, in the time-honoured countdown to launch tradition, the BBC have released a set of brand-new publicity images (and a couple of old ones) for Jodie Whittaker’s first episode, The Woman Who Fell to Earth.
Written by new showrunner Chris Chibnall and directed by Jamie Childs, the first episode of a brand-new era for the show sees Sheffield become the epicentre for some extra-terrestrial shenanigans as Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole), Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) and Graham O’Brien (Bradley Walsh) are about to have their lives changed forever, as a mysterious woman, unable to remember her own name, falls from the night sky. Can they believe a word she says? And can she help solve the strange events taking place across the city? I don’t know but my gut says, “yes and yes”.
The images give us a closer look at Grace, the wife of Graham, played by Sharon D. Clarke and a character called Rahul, played by Amit Shah, as well as a series of pictures of the regulars looking off camera at something with a mixture of cool determination and concern – plus some homespun gadgets too!
Doctor Who returns Sunday 7th October with The Woman Who Fell to Earth on BBC One at 6:45 pm.
