The Story Behind Lewis and Peter Capaldi's 'Someone You Loved' Music Video

The video for Brit-nominated Lewis Capaldi’s song, Someone You Loved, continues to prosper since the DWC reported on it last month; it currently having garnered almost 4.5 million views on YouTube. Now, you can read the full story of the video in this week’s edition of The Big Issue.

The video was produced to promote the work of the organ donation charity, Live Life Give Life. In it, Lewis’s cousin, Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi, plays a grieving widower who travels to meet a young woman who has the chance to live a normal life with her husband and daughter, thanks to the heart she received from his dead spouse.

Lewis recounts that the idea of Peter appearing in the video began as just a throwaway remark:

“Very flippantly I was like, ‘We could ask Peter Capaldi’. My manager had his email… and literally the next day, my manager gets a phone call from Peter saying, ‘Mate, I’d love to do this, send me over the script, I’d be honoured to be involved.’”

Peter himself was happy to raise the profile of organ donation and to work with his cousin, whom he praises as an “amazing talent.”
