Eleventh Doctor actor, Matt Smith is to reunite with his The Crown co-star, Claire Foy for a play about climate change.
Lungs will be at the Old Vic Theatre in Waterloo, and sees the pair playing a couple worried about bringing a child into a world struggling with the realities of global warming.
The Old Vic’s artistic director, Matthew Warchus said:
“Hot on the heels of the Extinction Rebellion consciousness-raising demonstrations, there’s an extremely limited run of Duncan Macmillan’s dazzlingly vibrant and profound two-hander, Lungs. It sees a conflicted couple wrestle with huge contemporary dilemmas surrounding the responsibility of bringing new life into an increasingly precarious world.”
He further cautioned that it would only enjoy an “extremely limited run”.
Matt played Prince Philip opposite Foy’s Queen Elizabeth II in the first two seasons of the Netflix streaming drama.
Series 3 of The Crown is currently filming with Olivia Colman (The Eleventh Hour) as the Queen, and Cold War‘s Tobias Menzies and Josh O’Connor as Prince Philip and Prince Charles respectively.
Dates for Lungs are currently unknown, so be on the lookout for tickets soon…
