BritBox, the collaborative streaming service from the BBC and ITV, will be adding the first series of Press Gang, written by Steven Moffat, to its library on Tuesday 7th May 2020.
The comedy-drama (which ran for five seasons from 1989 to 1993) was created by Moffat, the former Doctor Who showrunner whose stories include Blink, The Day of the Doctor, and Listen. The first series, consisting of 13 episodes, will be added to BritBox alongside the debut seasons of Children’s Ward (1989) and The Worst Witch (1998).
Furthermore, the 2008 documentary, All About Thunderbirds will be part of the new Gerry Anderson Collection, which further includes 10 of the best episodes of Thunderbirds (but who decided which were the best of this much-loved classic?!) and the pilots of Stingray (1964), Captain Scarlet (1967), and Joe 90 (1968).
Will Harrison, Managing Director of BritBox UK, says:
“We have seen a trend in our subscribers favouring ‘comfy content’ and lighter viewing over the last month, so we’ve been raiding the archives to keep everyone suitably entertained. We hope that our viewers enjoy the trip down memory lane as much as we have!”
Can we credit the Coronavirus lockdown with the addition of Press Gang to BritBox?
Pilot episodes of Wolves, Witches and Giants (1995), Puddle Lane (1985), Jungle Run (1999), Murphy’s Mob (1982), Wizadora (1991), Woof! (1989), and Tots TV (1993) will also be available. I used to love Wolves, Witches and Giants, so this sure is tempting!
And don’t forget that BritBox boasts a heady archive of Classic Doctor Who.
