A new picture of Tom Baker – now 88 years old – has been released, in preparation for the release of Demon Quest, a special vinyl boxset signed by the man himself!
It is good to see Tom looking so well and proud to be still associated with his Fourth Doctor in Doctor Who – a role he last played on television over 40 years ago. (What’s that you say? He returned as The Curator in The Day of the Doctor nine years ago and the Curator was clearly a future incarnation of the Doctor? Back in your box, sir! In contemplating such things, madness lies.)
Tom is pictured with the new vinyl album of Demon Quest, which is to be released by Demon Music Group on 2nd December, 2022.
And while this is the first time Demon Quest is released on vinyl, even more exciting is that this set comes with an exclusive, frameable portrait of the Fourth Doctor, hand signed by Tom Baker himself.
This follows up on a similar set, signed by Baker, Doctor Who – Hornet’s Nest.
The release includes 10 individual, beautifully illustrated LP sleeves featuring full cast and credits for each of the five stories inside (The Relics of Time, The Demon of Paris, A Shard of Ice, Starfall, and Sepulchre), with the tales presented on 140g alternating red and black vinyl discs. Plus the Doctor’s encounters with the Demon are detailed in The Doctor’s Journal, a large 16-page full colour booklet featuring notes and illustrations from the tale.
Written by Paul Magrs, Demon Quest also stars Susan Jameson as Mrs Wibbsey and Richard Franklin as Mike Yates. The supporting cast includes Nigel Anthony, Samuel West, Jan Francis, Trevor White, Lorelei King, and Finty Williams.
Here’s the synopsis:
“Mrs Wibbsey, you may have done something absolutely catastrophic!”
When key components from the TARDIS are stolen in exchange for a bag of strange curios, the Doctor and his housekeeper Mrs Wibbsey are reunited in adventure. Each object leads the unlikely friends, along with the trusty Mike Yates, to a place and time where danger awaits them. As their pursuer’s net closes around the Doctor, he realises that the mysterious Demon is in thrall to a much higher power…
