Bonnie Langford has been seen on location filming for Doctor Who Series 14 with Ncuti Gatwa.
It’s thought that they’re currently filming Block Five of the upcoming series — that is, the last block of shooting, expected to consist of episodes 7 and 8. With the shortened eight-episode Series 14, that means that we’re heading towards the finale already. So Bonnie might be back for either the penultimate episode of Ncuti Gatwa’s first series, the actual finale, or both.
It was revealed that Langford would be back as Mel Bush on 7th June 2023, and she was first seen filming in Cardiff on 9th June.
On Instagram, showrunner Russell T Davies, enthused:
“Bonnie’s back! In Doctor Who! How is she back on Earth?! What happened to Sabalom Glitz? And what will she say when she sees the Doctor again?! Such a delight and an honour and a hoot to work with @thebonnielangford, and this isn’t just a cameo, it’s a great big starring role! With the stakes higher than they’ve ever been before 😳 Hop on cowboy, this is going to be nuts!”
Mel’s last full appearance was in Dragonfire, though she cameoed in The Power of the Doctor recently.
Shooting took place at One Central Square in Cardiff, where TRIAD Technology signs were seen — the same as seen on the side of buses seen during filming in Bristol. Maybe we’re in for more Bad Wolf-style links again in Series 14.
Unusually, Ncuti was seen in dress-down attire, including jeans. The Doctor in denim?! We reckon Gatwa could make it work.
