Coming Soon: The Fifteenth Doctor Comic from Titan Launches on Free Comic Book Day

For this year’s Free Comic Book Day, you’ll be able to enjoy a new adventure for Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor — celebrating 10 years of Doctor Who comics from Titan!

Written by Dan Watters (Loki), The Fifteenth Doctor: Free Comic Book Day Edition kicks-off an all-new comic series starring the Gatwa’s incarnation of the Time Lord and his companion in time and space, Ruby Sunday (played on screen by Millie Gibson).

The issue will be available in participating comic shops on 4th May 2024.

On the Free Comic Day edition of Doctor Who: The Fifteenth Doctor, series editor, Jake Devine says:

Doctor Who Free Comic Book Day marks the first appearance of the Fifteenth Doctor in Titan Comics and I’m so excited – it feels like we’ve been waiting for this new era forever! We’ve got an incredible story to tell from a fresh creative team with a spectacular vision. I can’t wait for fans to get stuck in!”

Free Comic Book Day takes place every year on the first Saturday of May. You can find their local participating store here.

It’s important to note that comic stores actually have to pay for these “free” comics, so while the bigger stores like Forbidden Planet can carry that cost, smaller independent stores sometimes struggle to, meaning some impose some qualifications — for instance, you might have to buy another issue of something or spend, say, £5 to get your free issue. Others, however, prioritise customers with standing orders. So if you feel annoyed that a local comic shop isn’t taking part in Free Comic Book Day, it’s perhaps better to question why and note down how grossly unfair it is for publishers to expect shops to be burdened with buying them then giving them away for free.

Other issues available on Free Comic Book Day include the Asterix Olympics Special, Marvel’s Blood Hunt: X-Men and Ultimate Universe Spider-Man, Disney’s Encanto, Street Fighter Vs Final Fight, and Flash Gordon.

We expect to hear more from Titan Comics about The Fifteenth Doctor comic series very soon…
