The Official Doctor Who Podcast Relaunches with New Hosts and a New Sound

New hosts and a revamped feel have been announced for The Official Doctor Who Podcast, which now accompanies new episodes of Doctor Who Series 14 each week.

Brand-new hosts, Nadia Jae (BBC Radio 1Xtra Breakfast) and Shabaz Ali (comedian and content creator), will be delivering exclusives, special guests, and Easter eggs and fan theories, designed as the “ultimate group chat for Doctor Who” (outside the DWC, of course…).

Nadia Jae said:

“I’m so honoured to be hosting the podcast to one of the biggest shows in this country and beyond. Doctor Who is a name you know whether you’re a Whovian or a Newvian! I’m so excited for new and old fans to see this incredible regeneration of the Doctor with Ncuti and Millie taking us on a journey like never before. Into the Whoniverse we go!”

Shabaz Ali said:

“I’m a huge fan of Doctor Who – I’ve been watching it for years, so to be able to host the official podcast is a dream come true. We’ll be digging into every corner of the Whoniverse, watching episodes week-by-week, with special guests and exclusive content. I can’t wait to get started.”

Doctor Who showrunner, Russell T Davies, said:

“It’s a huge boost of energy, to welcome Nadia and Shabaz as podcast hosts. We want viewers to experience Doctor Who in every format – and this comes complete with a sneak peek at next week!”

Chris Allen, Director of Content Development, BBC Studios Social said:

“We are thrilled to share the newly reimagined Official Doctor Who Podcast with the universe. There’s something for everyone in it, whether you’re an avid fan, or a first-time viewer – from fun chat and wild speculation with our brilliant guests, to incredible insights from programme makers. Nadia Jae and Shabaz Ali are the perfect hosts to take us into this brand-new era of Doctor Who, and we’re delighted to have worked with Listen to regenerate the show – their passion and knowledge in this area is unmatched!

Director of Content at Listen, the podcast production agency, Darby Dorras said:

“We have become known in podcasting as leaders in the future of companion shows. Crafting a compelling offering for Doctor Who meant we had to approach this project humbly, appreciating all the show’s lore. We’ve created this podcast for both dedicated Whovians and newcomers to Doctor Who globally, an audience spanning generations, cultures, time and space.”

The Official Doctor Who Podcast is released weekly after each Doctor Who episode airs on BBC1, and can be found on all major podcast platforms globally and BBC Sounds (in the UK only). It’s also broadcast globally in video on the Doctor Who YouTube channel.
