Today is Doctor Who day, i.e. the anniversary of the show’s debuting on 23rd November 1963, and to celebrate, writer and former showrunner, Steven Moffat, will be joining in on a tweetalong rewatch of Boom.
It happens tonight from 7pm (GMT) on the official BBC Doctor Who YouTube channel, as well as X, formerly Twitter. The BBC shared the news by saying:
Join us on #DoctorWhoDay from 7pm GMT for a live watchalong of Boom on the official YouTube channel!
Boom was the third episode of Doctor Who Series 14, airing earlier this year, and the first Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) story not written by current showrunner, Russell T Davies.
It’s also Moffat’s 49th story for the show, his milestone 50th — and perhaps his last, as he’s previously mentioned — coming next month, with Joy to the World set to air on Christmas Day 2024.
This is the first tweetalong in a little while, the idea gaining popularity during the lockdown period of 2020 and 2021, organised by then-Doctor Who Magazine contributor, Emily Cook. With rewatches including The Girl in the Fireplace, The Day of the Doctor, and The Pilot, these generated a huge amount of interest, as well as special extra material including minisodes written by episode scribes.
This is the first such tweetalong rewatch for the Fifteenth Doctor era — and they’ve picked one of the best stories of his tenure, so we’re looking forward to it!
That’s tonight (23rd November 2024), at 7pm (GMT).
