It seems a slip-up at the BBC has resulted in the start date for Doctor Who Series 15 being revealed: though not officially confirmed just yet, it sounds like the first episode at least will air on 12th April 2025!
Just a few days ago, amid the half-time ads during the BBC Sport coverage of Under-20s Six Nations Rugby, an iPlayer teaser trailer showed various clips from Ncuti Gatwa’s second season as the Fifteenth Doctor, topped off with the apparent start date, i.e. in a little less than two months away. This seems to have been a brief oversight as the BBC hasn’t actually confirmed this yet. We expect confirmation pretty soon though.
As such, Disney hasn’t confirmed the date it’ll start streaming worldwide either, though this is expected to be the same as the BBC.
The next series will be comprised of eight episodes, so, unless it’s a two-episode premiere like last year, a 12th April start date would mean the season would conclude on 31st May 2025. Otherwise, it may end on 24th May.
Either way, Doctor Who Series 15 — starring Ncuti Gatwa, Millie Gibson (back after a couple of episodes as Ruby Sunday), and Varada Sethu, the latter as new companion, Belinda Chandra — will air in April and May 2025, and will be the second run of stories under Russell T Davies’ second era as showrunner.
