Bill Anderson has been revealed as the director of Block Two of Doctor Who Series 10.
He’ll be the second director so far announced to be a newcomer to Doctor Who, joining Lawrence Gough, who is directing Block One (which is currently being filmed). This might be Anderson’s first time on Who, but his impressive credits elsewhere gives us a lot of hope, including DCI Banks, Lewis, and Spooks, the latter of which he directed two great episodes of Series 3: Outsiders, and Celebrity.
It’s not been confirmed that Anderson will direct Block Two specifically, but as the news came from Peal Mackie’s online CV, listing directors and shooting blocks, it’s pretty likely.

Five writers have been announced so far – showrunner, Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss (Cold War), Frank Cottrell-Boyce (In the Forest of the Night), Sarah Dollard (Face the Raven) and Mike Bartlett (Doctor Foster) – and we’re presuming that Anderson will be in charge of Dollard and Bartlett’s episodes.
This is, of course, great news: we’ll be getting fresh perspectives on our beloved show. Nonetheless, I personally expect some familiar names to be helming further episodes, but there’s no word as yet on who they might be. Personally, I’d like to see Colm McCarthy (The Bells of St. John), Farren Blackburn (The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe), and Nick Hurran (The God Complex) all back for more, but we’ll find out relatively soon.
