Obverse Books, perhaps best-known for its successful Black Archive essays on the history of Doctor Who, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Faction Paradox series with sales throughout November.
But you’ll have to be fast: each sale takes place solely at the weekends – yes, including this one!
On 24th November 1997, BBC Books released the sixth in their Doctor Who Eighth Doctor novels, Alien Bodies, written by Lawrence Miles. It was the first full-length work to feature those voodoo, bone-mask-wearing cultists, Faction Paradox. Since then, the Faction have appeared in comics, novels, short stories, audios and, probably, feature length movies which were only made in very specific alternate universes other than our own.
Every weekend throughout November, Obverse Books will be running flash Faction Paradox sales. This weekend, it’s the turn of The City of the Saved:
The first five City of the Saved anthologies at one special price!
Tales of the City
Beyond the end of the universe exists a city the size of a galaxy, packed with every human being that ever lived, from the first Australopithecus to the last posthuman, resurrected in a city in which nobody can die…or rather, that used to be the case.
More Tales of the City
The second City of the Saved short story collection, edited by its creator, Philip Purser-Hallard, and with new stories – and one extraordinary poem – from many of Obverse Book’s favourite authors!
Tales of the Great Detectives
The City of the Saved houses every human being who ever lived… but some of its immortal Citizens need more.
For the Remakers, one fiction above all exerts its fascination: a character existing in countless interpretations, many of them now recreated in the flesh and in business together as the Great Detective Agency.
These are their tales.
Furthest Tales of the City
Even the secular afterlife created for humanity by the Secret Architects has its limits – and there will always be those Citizens who chafe against those limits. Environmentally, culturally, biologically, cosmologically, politically, experientially, some will always seek to go further.
Tales of the Civil War
War (and death) has come to the City of the Saved…
Edited by City creator Philip Purser-Hallard, these first five anthologies are available until Sunday night in a single, half price ebook package – that’s only £12.49 for all five collections as epub and mobi files! Head over to Obverse to download and enjoy!
