If you’re free this Saturday and want to have a lot of fun at a friendly, relaxed, and informal Doctor Who convention, why not come along to Bedford Who Charity Con 4? (We’re offering 10% off tickets to DWC readers, too – see below.)
“Why indeed?” I hear you cry. Well, here are a few factoids:
- It’s on a small scale, so you actually get to meet and chat to the guests, like:
- Colin Baker. And Sophie Aldred. And John Leeson. And Angela Douglas.
- You get 10% off.
- It’s not a signing fest. You can get people’s autographs but there are lots of on-stage events.
- At the panel interviews, you get to ask the questions!
- Mike Tucker’s going to be doing an illustrated talk on the effects for Thin Ice and Shada, and he’s bringing along the models used in filming, too. (He’s a great speaker as well.)
- Elen Thomas is coming for her first convention appearance. She was the Clockwork Woman in The Girl in the Fireplace. And an Auton. And a Weeping Angel. And a Futurekind. (Sofas to hide behind will be provided, hohoho.)
- Doctor Who sketches (and they’re actually funny!) performed by the actors.
- Costume display of outfits worn by the Sixth and Seventh Doctors.
- It’s for charity. All profits go to Bedford Foodbank.
- You get 10% off.
- Lots of Daleks. Everywhere.
- Charity auction – some rare autographs and donated items up for sale.
- A select and splendid assembly of merchandise sellers will be congregating.
- You get 10% off.
- Bedford’s easy to get to: it’s just off the M1 and the A1. 45 minutes from the M25. 35 minutes from St Pancras.
- You can get a group photo with the guests. No fee! Just a donation to the charity bucket.
- Air to breathe. Lavatories. Chairs, tables etc. Event will be held in all three dimensions.
- Universally positive feedback from people who came to the last Bedford Who Charity Cons. This is going to be a really good day.
- It’s run by fans for fans.
- Oh, and you get 10% off.
“Goodness gracious me,” I hear you cry again. “I simply must attend. Where, when and how much?”
