Admittedly, no one knows much about Doctor Who Series 11, but it seems speculation about Eve Myles and John Barrowman returning is completely unfounded.
It always happens: whenever a new series is coming up, we hear rumours of returning characters, and quite often, one of those characters is Captain Jack Harkness. It’s because Barrowman is so keen to let everyone know he’d come back quicker than Clara Oswald and Rory Williams. So it comes as no surprise that fans have began ruminating on the possibility of Harkness and Cooper being in Jodie Whittaker’s debut series as the Thirteenth Doctor.
However, Eve Myles has dashed those hopes on Twitter, by simply saying:
“NOT in the next series! Sorry”
NOT in the next series! Sorry💛
— Eve Myles (@TeamEveMyles) June 2, 2018
This was a tad more definitive than Barrowman’s enigmatic tweet in which he shared this rumour with the caption, “??”. The likelihood of Harkness appearing is still very slight. Sorry, Torchwood fans.
It’s been 7 years since Torchwood vanished from our screens, in a less-than-ceremonious fashion, so it’s understandable if fans’ feet are getting itchy. But we probably have to stick to Big Finish – which is no bad thing because they’re doing some wonderful stuff with the franchise.
Will there be any returning elements in Series 11? Well, it’s probable an old enemy or two will be back. Will new showrunner, Chris Chibnall follow in the footsteps of The Power of the Daleks and Deep Breath by cementing a new Doctor in by bringing back a classic monster? Frankly, we just don’t know.
However, we reckon we’ll learn more about Series 11 pretty soon now…
