The BBC has released a brand-new short video written by Steven Moffat and read by Caitlin Blackwood as something of a prequel to The Eleventh Hour.
The episode, which was the full debut of Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor alongside Karen Gillan’s Amy Pond and Arthur Darvill’s Rory Williams, celebrated its 10th anniversary on 3rd April 2020. Fans took to Twitter that evening to participate in a special watch-along, as Matt, Karen Arthur, and Steven tweeted behind-the-scenes secrets, as did director, Adam Smith.
The Raggedy Doctor was specially written by Moffat in anticipation of the event, and illustrated by the extremely talented and lovely Sophie Iles. It’s edited by Abigail Scarfe, with music by Joe Kraemer, and produced by Emily Cook – all in isolation! It’s a wonderful achievement, and there’s apparently more to look forward to in coming weeks.
Everyone involved in the making of The Raggedy Doctor contributed their time and talent for free. If you enjoyed it, it would great if you could consider making a donation to The Film and TV Charity’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, to support the creative community which has been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic, set up by Cook (who deserves a round of applause for all she’s doing for fans, for Doctor Who, and for charity).
