New Images and Synopsis Revealed for Doctor Who Festive Special, Revolution of the Daleks

The BBC has released two new images and a synopsis for the upcoming Doctor Who festive special, Revolution of the Daleks. They were unveiled as part of the digital event, New York Comic Con.

Here’s the synopsis for the episode, which follows on from The Timeless Children‘s cliffhanger, in which Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor finds herself imprisoned by the Judoon for a life sentence:

The Doctor is locked away in a high-security alien prison. Isolated, alone, with no hope of escape. Far away, on Earth, her best friends, Yaz, Ryan, and Graham have to pick up their lives without her.

But it’s not easy. Old habits die hard. Especially when they discover a disturbing plan forming.

A plan which involves a Dalek. How can you fight a Dalek, without the Doctor?

And don’t worry, the two images are spoiler-free, though hint that the Doctor’s been in jail for quite some time…

Yes, we’re getting an exciting scene where Yaz, Graham, and Ryan sit at a table! Don’t let this go to your head.

While it’s nice to hear something about Revolution of the Daleks, these are disappointing for anyone who thought they’d announce the return of a much-loved companion or that we’d at least see a new Dalek design (apparently based on the Reconnaissance Dalek from Resolution).

Revolution of the Daleks will air sometime over the festive period.
