Coming Soon: The Doctor Who Chronicles – 1975

The second in the special edition Doctor Who Chronicles range is released early next month, and collects together behind-the-scenes information on a range of much-loved classics.

The Doctor Who Chronicles: 1975 includes a detailed look at Genesis of the Daleks, once voted the best Doctor Who serial of all, alongside its other stories from Tom Baker’s first year as the Fourth Doctor. Extending to The Android Invasion, that means this volume covers every storyline featuring Harry Sullivan (Ian Marter), who travelled with Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen).

Here’s the blurb for the bookazine:

The Chronicles series examines the landmark years of Doctor Who’s history in unprecedented detail. 1975 was Tom Baker’s first full year as the Doctor and features a highly regarded run of stories: Robot, The Ark in Space, The Sontaran Experiment, Genesis of the Daleks, Revenge of the Cybermen, Terror of the Zygons, Planet of Evil, Pyramids of Mars, and The Android Invasion.

This bookazine includes rare images and all-new features, including a summary of the most significant events in the Doctor Who universe, how Doctor Who was reported in the press, insights into special effects and production techniques, overviews of each serial and more.

So that’s: Baker’s debut; the creepy Wirrn; a lovely little Sontaran two-parter; the first appearance of Davros; Cybermen attacking the planet of golf; the debut of the shape-shifting Zygons; anti-matter madness; Sutekh the Destroyer; and a jaunt in a make-believe facsimile of Earth!

This comes from the Doctor Who Magazine team, and follows an installment earlier this year covering 1965.

The Doctor Who Chronicles: 1975 is out on 10th June 2021, priced £9.99.
