Check out the new trailer for the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, starring David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor, Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, and Beep the Meep!
Plus, we now know the name of the three stories:
- The Star Beast
- Wild Blue Yonder
- The Giggle
That first name comes from the Doctor Who Magazine strip in which Beep the Meep and the Wrarth Warriors debuted. And we presume the “giggle” refers to Neil Patrick Harris’ character, rumoured to be the Celestial Toymaker.
The trailer has been teased on BBC1 a few times, with clips featuring Tennant and Tate, as well as Neil Patrick Harris. Twitter has been alive with speculation about what the trailer would include, as fans quickly worked out that a full trailer would be released just before the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, held in Liverpool, in the UK, on behalf of Ukraine.
The three specials are written by Russell T Davies, and directed by Rachel Talalay, Tom Kingsley, and Chanya Button. (Talalay, of course, is returning as director, having previously helmed episodes like Heaven Sent/ Hell Bent, and World Enough and Time/ The Doctor Falls, all for Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor.)
Davies said:
“The titles are just the beginning of the Doctor’s biggest adventure yet. Autumn is coming, with three hours of danger, Donna and disaster about to be unleashed!”
These episodes will be the first co-produced by Bad Wolf.
The specials will air on BBC1 in November 2023, celebrating 60 years of Doctor Who!
And stick with Eurovision because Catherine Tate will be announcing the UK voting results.
