UNIT: A Legacy in Doctor Who and 100 Objects of Dr Who — two titles from Candy Jar Books — are now available to buy on Kindle.
Candy Jar Books has aimed to focus on physical books for a few years now, but the time felt right to explore digital copies, so a wider range of readers can enjoy its publications.
UNIT: A Legacy in Doctor Who and 100 Objects of Dr Who are standalone non-fiction books that tell the story of the BBC franchise, both in-narrative and behind-the-scenes.
Written by Baz Greenland, UNIT: A Legacy in Doctor Who looks at the organisation that’s been a key part of the show’s lore since the Second Doctor era, through its prominence in the Third Doctor’s adventures, UNIT’s legacy in Classic Who, and its resurgence in the 2005 to present series. It also features an array of exclusive interviews, including with Sophie Aldred (Ace), Big Finish writer Joseph Lidster, and John Levene (Sergeant Benton).
And I wrote 100 Objects of Dr Who! The ebook brings together obscure facts and trivia from the world’s longest-running sci-fi show, while telling the story of its creation and ongoing popularity. Interviews include with Matt Smith (the Eleventh Doctor), Mark Strickson (Turlough), and Christopher Eccleston (the Ninth Doctor).
Candy Jar Head of Publishing, Shaun Russell, says:
“We’ve wanted to expand our Kindle library for some time now, and, following Doctor Who’s sixtieth anniversary celebrations, these two books seemed obvious choices! It doesn’t matter whether you’re a seasoned fan or new to the franchise: you should learn something new about Doctor Who from both books. They’re packed tomes that are fun to read, and filled with plenty of shorter chapters — perfect to read on the beach, train, tube, or at home.”
