Has a New Writer for Doctor Who Series 15 Been Revealed?

It appears that Sharma Walfall has written an episode of the forthcoming season of Doctor Who, which stars Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor

Walfall’s online CV at Casarotto Ramsay & Associates lists her most recent contribution:

UNTITLED BAD WOLF RETURNING FANTASY SERIES
Showrunner: Russell T Davies
Producer: Bad Wolf/Jane Tranter
Broadcaster: BBC
In development
(2023/24)

Unless Torchwood or something is coming back, a “returning fantasy series” from Bad Wolf, with Davies as showrunner, must be Doctor Who.

It further says:

“She is currently working with Bad Wolf and Russell T Davies on a popular long running series.”

Some sources are suggesting this is episode three of Doctor Who Series 15 and is co-written by Davies.

They go on to list a potential title as Five Miles Deep… which is an unusual but strong episode title!

Series 15 will be the second with Gatwa as the Doctor, and the first with Varada Sethu as new companion, Belinda Chandra.

Walfall was mentored by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child; the Old Vic’s version of A Christmas Carol), and has worked with Sally Wainwright (Happy Valley; Last Tango in Halifax) on Renegade Nell for Disney+. She’s also worked on Dreamland with Freema Agyeman, who fans will know as Martha Jones, the Tenth Doctor’s companion. (I mention Wainwright in particular as I’d love to see her take on Doctor Who; ditto Thorne!)

She further wrote for Noughts & Crosses, the TV adaptation of Malorie Blackman’s best-selling book series.

Doctor Who Series 15 will air later this year.
