Candy Jar Books has announced a special instalment in The Lucy Wilson Mysteries, created especially for Barry Card and Collector Con 2026 by Paul Wines, and edited by me!
The Games Master was commissioned for the event, which takes place at the Barry Memo Arts Centre on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May 2026. Known to fans as B3C, the Barry-based comic con promises an exciting weekend celebrating television, film, science fiction, comics, cosplay, collectables, and pop culture.
There’s a whole host of special Doctor Who guests, like Paul McGann (Eighth Doctor), Colin Baker (Sixth Doctor), Nicola Bryant (Peri Brown), Sian Phillips (73 Yards), and, announced on Friday, Louise Jameson (Leela).
They’ll be joined by various stars of Red Dwarf like Chris Barrie, Hattie Hayridge, and Norman Lovett, as well as other actors like Mat Horne (Gavin & Stacy) and artists like Mike Collins (Doctor Who Magazine; Marvel) in the Artist & Author Alley.
Candy Jar will also have a stall at the convention, and I’ll be there trying to sell my wares (or maybe just some books, we’ll see) on Saturday.
Here’s the blurb for The Games Master:
It’s the only thing anyone’s been talking about – even Lucy and Hobo, and they see real aliens and monsters all the time! But the Games Master has been plotting. The next level of the game is afoot… and he knows that every great detective needs a trusted companion.
For Sherlock Holmes, it’s Watson.
For Lucy Wilson, it’s Hobo.
With everyone at the Comic Con in danger, can our favourite duo solve the mystery before things get out of hand?
Lucy Wilson is the granddaughter of Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart; she and her loyal best friend Hobo have become hugely popular with readers through a range now spanning more than thirty books. Together they have battled monsters, aliens, and mysterious threats from their base in Ogmore-by-Sea – and now they are heading to Comic Con!
Tickets are available now:
- Day Entry Tickets – £20.00
- Weekend Entry Tickets – £30.00
The book will be made available after the event on the Candy Jar website.
