BBC Studios has partnered with Build-A-Bear, the customisable stuffed animal retail chain, to produce a series of plush toys, outfits, and accessories based on Doctor Who. These will launch in 2020, across the UK and America.
Build-A-Bear was founded in 1997 and has both physical stores and an online presence allowing you to make a customised plush. Yes, you can just make a bear that smells of bubblegum, or you can indulge in other franchise favourites like Pokemon, Barbie, My Little Pony, and Disney brands like Star Wars and the Marvel universes.
This is the first time you’ll be able to get official Doctor Who products from Build-A-Bear.
Julie Kekwick, Senior Licensing Manager for BBC Studios, says:
“We’re excited to be partnering with Build-A-Bear to create a collection that will appeal to fans of the show both young and old. Doctor Who has a huge following and with the launch of Series 12 early next year we’re looking forward to this new range launching online.”
Anjali Khosla, Senior Manager of Brand Management at Build-A-Bear Workshop, adds:
“We are thrilled to partner with BBC Studios to bring the iconic Doctor Who franchise to Build-A-Bear Workshop. We look forward to sharing our version of this beloved story with fans and collectors around the world in early 2020.”
Though an exact date is yet to be announced, Build-A-Bear will begin stocking Doctor Who items from next year, presumably around the same time Series 12 airs.
