Ten Acre Books is releasing a special edition hardback collecting together two of its title sequence-focused bookazines, the original Adventures in Type and Space, and the new Sid Sutton Collection. And all proceeds are doing to Unicef!
Adventures in Type and Space is a charity bookazine exploring the title sequences of classic Doctor Who from 1963 to 1989. Highlights include new in-depth interviews with Bernard Lodge (title designer, 1963-1979), Peter Govey (special cameraman, 1970-1979), and Gareth Edwards (titles animator, 1987-1989). There are also contributions from Sid Sutton (title designer, 1980-1986) and the family of Oliver Elmes (title designer, 1987-1989).
Illustrated throughout with rare and unseen imagery, Adventures in Type and Space is a celebration of the artistry and ingenuity that went into creating Doctor Who’s extraordinary title sequences, told by the people who made them.
Limited to just 250 copies, this complete collection also includes a foreword by Mark Gatiss (The Unquiet Dead; Cold War).
Proceeds will benefit Unicef, Bernard Lodge’s chosen charity.
Created by Graham Kibble-White, Jack Kibble-White, and Stuart Manning, the full colour casebound hardback is comprised of 196 pages and comes out in late November.
All pre-orders will be entered into a special prize draw to win a unique signed archival print of one of Sid Sutton’s Doctor Who title sequence portraits. Only two copies of this image have been made – one is now owned by Sixth Doctor actor, Colin Baker, and the other could be owned by you.
The Adventures in Type and Space Complete Collection is out on 25th November 2024, and is available to pre-order now for £24.99. The Sid Sutton Collection is also available on its own from Ten Acre.
