Actors, Rose Ayling-Ellis and Jordan Adene, will be starring in the next season of Doctor Who opposite Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor.
Ayling-Ellis is best known for being the first ever deaf actress to play a deaf character in EastEnders, and went on to win the massively popular BBC show, Strictly Come Dancing. Last year, she was also made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (i.e. an MBE) for voluntary services to the deaf community.
Russell T Davies, the current Doctor Who showrunner, says:
“We always want guest actors on Doctor Who to have fun, but Rose takes it to a whole new level. She storms in with an astonishing performance of terror, anger and bravery in one of the most frightening episodes we’ve ever made.”
Rose enthuses:
“I loved Doctor Who when I was growing up, so being cast in the show was a dream come true. My inner child is ecstatic with excitement! Working with Russell and filming alongside the talented cast and crew has been an incredible experience. Ncuti is a wonderful Doctor, and I can’t wait for audiences to see what we have created together.”
Before Millie Gibson was announced as Ruby Sunday, there was talk that Rose might even have been added to Doctor Who as the Fifteenth Doctor’s companion. She would’ve been great, to be fair.
Meanwhile, Jordan Adene made his TV debut in a 2015 episode of Cucumber, also written by Davies, and has otherwise been in Young Wallander, Heirs of the Night, Silverpoint, Wanderlust, and the podcast series, The Strange Case.
Doctor Who Series 15 is expected to ait on BBC1 and stream on Disney+ this spring.
