The BBC and Demon Records have announced a special vinyl edition of a Tenth Doctor story, read by David Tennant himself, and due for release next month.
Record Store Day has expanded somewhat in the past few years, so there’s now a Black Friday event in addition to the annual day that encourages people to support their local music stores. As such, a bevvy of new titles will be released on 28th November 2025, notably The Last Voyage, written by Dan Abnett whose previous contributions to the Doctor Who universe include The Silent Stars Go By, The Forever Trap, and Nocturne.
The Last Voyage is presented on 2LP Translucent Yellow Vinyl in a wide-spine sleeve with illustrated inner sleeves.
Here’s the blurb for The Last Voyage:
“If everyone’s vanished, who’s flying this thing?”
Demon Records present an exclusive-to-audio adventure for the Tenth Doctor, written by Dan Abnett and read by David Tennant, accompanied by Murray Gold’s stirring arrangement of the familiar Doctor Who theme.
The TARDIS materialises aboard a pioneering space cruiser travelling from Earth to the planet Eternity. When the passengers and crew suddenly disappear, the Doctor and flight attendant Sugar must stop the ship from crash-landing.
But something awful awaits them on Eternity…
‘…a tightly structured and thoroughly entertaining sci-fi thriller… all backed up by a typically energetic reading from David Tennant’ – SFX magazine
Note that the BBC is touting this as a “new” story, but it’s not: The Last Voyage was previously released on CD in January 2010, the first audio story starring the Tenth Doctor to be circulated after the Tenth Doctor’s regeneration in The End of Time.
The vinyl will be available from your local record store on 28th November 2025. These things normally sell out, but individual retailers sometimes put excess stock online afterwards, so keep an eye out!
