Play VR Game, The Runaway for Free in These UK Libraries

If you fancy giving the new Doctor Who virtual reality (VR) game, The Runaway a go, and live around the Preston area, you’re in luck. Because for the next week, you can experience part of the game for free at three local libraries.

You can play The Runaway at Kingsfold Library, Longridge Library, and Leyland Library from today (4th June 2019) until Tuesday 11th June 2019.

It will also be at Clitheroe Library and Whalley Library, but you’ll need to book.

Jodie Whittaker voices an animated Thirteenth Doctor, who recruits the viewer as her companion in a race against time to return a strange and potentially dangerous creature called Volta to his home planet.

The immersive interactive version is available from the Oculus Store and Vive Port for use on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive with a runtime of 13 minutes. The 360 degree video version is available to download from the BBC VR App for the Oculus Go and GearVR with a runtime of 11 minutes.

But if you don’t have any of those device, this is a great opportunity!

Cabinet member for community and culture services at Lancashire County Council county Councillor, Peter Buckley said:

“This virtual reality project demonstrates the enormous potential that virtual reality has for creating new kinds of experiences that can be enjoyed by many people. I’m sure that fans of Doctor Who especially will love this interactive experience.”

You need to be over the age of 13 to play, and don’t forget to book your place between 4th June and 11th June 2019.
