Following the horrifying murder of George Floyd in America, this weekend’s scheduled rewatch of World Enough and Time/ The Doctor Falls has been cancelled.
Emily Cook, organiser of all the lockdown tweet-along projects, made the decision, saying:
“After careful consideration, out of respect for the feelings of Doctor Who fans around the world, we won’t be going along with the tweetalong this weekend. It doesn’t seem appropriate at this time.”
The last full rewatch of Lockdown Who arranged by Cook was New Earth/ Gridlock, although she did a bonus last-minute watch-along of Silence in the Library/ Forest of the Dead.
Fortunately, we shall still see The Best of Days, a special short written by Steven Moffat, and reuniting Pearl Mackie and Matt Lucas as Bill Potts and Nardole respectively – the first time the Twelfth Doctor companions have worked alongside each other on a Doctor Who project since Twice Upon A Time (2017). That will be released online tomorrow (6th June 2020).
Thank you to Emily for producing such a wonderful idea. Fans, cast, and crew from all across the world have joined in to celebrate Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Doctor stories – including Rose, The Fires of Pompeii, The Eleventh Hour, The Day of the Doctor, and Heaven Sent – during the Coronavirus pandemic. We’ve learnt behind-the-scenes secrets and been treated to lots of new material. A truly fantastic thing.
