Candy Jar Books has announced its Summer sale, including discounts on a range of Doctor Who-related titles (including a few from the Doctor Who Companion)!
Shaun Russell, Director of Candy Jar Books says:
“With the future of televised Doctor Who currently uncertain, there’s never been a better time to explore the wider universe of stories. For years, Candy Jar Books has expanded the universe through the adventures of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, UNIT, Lucy Wilson, and beyond. This Summer Sale is the perfect opportunity to catch up on stories you’ve missed and revisit old favourites. The TARDIS may not be landing this Christmas, but the adventure certainly doesn’t stop here.”
As such, one of the books on offer is the Doctor Who Christmas Specials book, by Baz Greenland and featuring essays from a huge number of people including contributors to the DWC; the book looks at every Christmas special, including perennial favourites, The Christmas Invasion, A Christmas Carol, and Last Christmas.
Also included in the sale are artbooks like Outside the Box, about the work of Jeff Cummins; and Timeslides: The Doctor Who Art of Colin Howard (which I was lucky enough to edit).
There’s a plethora of UNIT and Lethbridge-Stewart novels and short story collections in the sale, like The Vaughn Identity (as both a paperback and hardback, with its sequel, The Vaughn Supremacy out now, making it a great time to catch up), Catacombs of Seville, Night of the Intelligence, The Grandfather Infestation (Illustrated Edition), and Moon Blink.
You can also save on my Companions: More Than Sixty Years of Doctor Who Assistants, a 700-page book about which our very own Jonathan Appleton said:
“There’s so much to discover in this impressively researched book, and even the most avid fans are sure to learn something. The Eighth Doctor’s Expanded Universe chapter runs to 50 pages, reflecting just how long Paul McGann was the current Doctor, and the wealth of Doctor Who material released in that time. Wonderfully, it even includes his Radio Times comic strip companions, Stacy and Ssard. If you’re anything like me, you’ll require a stiff drink (or at least a few deep breaths) before attempting to tackle the account of River’s timeline, but Bates has made a valiant attempt to explain what often felt inexplicable.”
And if you like the Brigadier, you’ll want to learn more about the adventures of his granddaughter, Lucy Wilson, so can check a few out via the Summer sale. Titles in the series currently at discounted prices include The Serpent’s Tongue, Attack of the Quarks, The Midnight People, The Web of Terror, and The Brigadier & The Bledoe Cadets.
