Character Options will release its final set in this year’s Collect & Build range — the Wirrn from The Ark in Space!
This is the fifth set that builds up to make a Yeti, i.e. an extension of the Great Intelligence, as seen in Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) classics, The Abominable Snowmen and The Web of Fear. Previous releases in this range have included a new Fourth Doctor with scarf, Cybermen, and the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) with Mr Ring-a-Ding/Lux from, uh, Lux.
The Wirrn will be first available to those who bought the previous set on 16th November 2026, only at www.character-online.co.uk — those buyers will have 24 hours to purchase before it goes on general release.
The Wirrn ‘Vortex Edition’ is a 3-piece set that includes an adult Wirrn creature, a Wirrn grub, and the Yeti’s left arm. The completed Yeti is an imposing 17 centimetres tall and features 14 points of articulation. The packaging for this one is complete with a backdrop depicting the inside of the Nerva Beacon.
Creative Director, Al Dewar, says:
“To echo Andrew Teal, who sculpted the Wirrn figure, I’ve waited nearly 50 years to get an action figure of the Wirrn into my hands and now finally here it is. My love of Doctor Who started with Jon Pertwee but was sealed into my psyche with the arrival of Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor, and that most memorable debut season. Those stories and specifically The Ark in Space have stayed with me as favourites ever since. To this day, every time I watch it that story has everything that I love about the show: a deadly and truly horrifying alien which consumes its host, a battered old police box grinding into reality aboard a gleaming space station, huge insect grubs eating people and slithering off into ventilation shafts, humanity’s indomitable spirit being pitched against terrible odds, and yet, most importantly… deadly bubble wrap!”
Ah, I love The Ark in Space too, so this is very tempting, despite its £44.99 price point.
You can order Set 5: The Wirrn from 16th or 17th November 2026 over at Character Options.
