Three Doctor Who Stars Headline This Weekend’s Stars of Time Convention

Sylvester McCoy, Sophie Aldred, and Warwick Davis are headlining this weekend’s Stars of Time convention in Weston-super-Mare.

They’ll be joined by the exceptional Ben Whitehead, best known for being the new (ish) voice of Wallace of Aardman’s iconic duo, Wallace and Gromit! Pretty appropriate, given that Aardman is based in Bristol, just up the road from Weston.

McCoy, of course, played the Seventh Doctor, and he’ll be appearing at the Stars of Time with his companion co-star, Sophie Aldred, who played Ace. Most recently, the pair returned to the show for The Power of the Doctor.

And Warwick Davis will be making his first appearance at the Stars of Time event. Davies played Porridge in Nightmare in Silver, though fans will likely know him better for being in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and various Harry Potter movies.

As ever, you have to pay for autographs and selfies (the former I can understand, but paying for a selfie is a bit cheeky, in my opinion — you never used to have to do that, even 10 years ago; sadly, the big convention organiser spotted an opportunity and it’s spread like wildfire). And if you want Warwick’s autograph, you’ll have to fork out an astonishing £80. That’s in comparison to £30 for McCoy, £25 for Aldred, and £20 for Whitehead.

Now, these prices aren’t the fault of the stars, generally speaking. We can typically blame agents and convention organisers for that. Ultimately, greed wins out; we can see there being a big queue for autographs anyway, which is a bit of a shame — if we want cheaper prices, you’ve got to resist.

The Stars of Time takes place tomorrow (7th November 2026) at the Winter Gardens on the sea front in Weston-super-Mare.
