Alex Kingston, who plays River Song in Doctor Who, has performed two fantastic routines recently on the BBC reality TV dance competition, Strictly Come Dancing — and you can see them right here!
Ahead of tonight’s (18th October 2025) new routine, let’s revisit the past two weeks of dances — a Samba, which topped the leader board (getting a seven and three eights, which, in case your maths is as dodgy as mine, makes 31), and a Quickstep, as part of Movie Week. The latter hailed from The Devil Wears Prada, and Alex takes on the same role played in the movie by Meryl Streep. Bizarrely, this last week also had Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) as a guest, during which time she was advising the celebrities on their dances; seeing her giving acting tips to Alex was baffling, but there we are. I mean, it’s Alex Kingston!
First, here’s Alex’s sensational Samba, a dance that I usually think is horrible, but which she pulls of brilliantly.
Kingston, of course, played River opposite the Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Doctors (David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Peter Capaldi, respectively), but her professional partner, Johannes Radebe, has also been in Doctor Who — he was in that routine at the end of The Devil’s Chord!
Anyway, here’s Alex showing who’s boss in the Quickstep.
Good luck for tonight’s dance too, Alex!
