Welcome to the Doctor Who Companion‘s Easter quiz — some 50 questions all about everyone’s favourite sci-fi show.
But we’re also a big fan of Richard Osman’s House of Games, so this edition is inspired by that much-loved programme, with all its rounds based on rounds from the BBC2 series. Don’t worry, you don’t need to see it (though we recommend it for a great bit of entertainment): every round will be explained.
Note down all yours answers and come back on Easter Sunday for the answers. Good luck!
Sounds Like…
We’ll start with Sounds Like…, which is comprised of images that sound like an answer in a given topic. Think charades. Every answer this round is the name of a Doctor Who novel or novella. We’re giving you the relevant images alongside the name of the author and year of publication for each book.

Singonyms
Various pop songs have played in episodes of Doctor Who. We’ve used a thesaurus to find synonyms for some lyrics to a few of these songs, then added the year they appeared in the show. Three possible points per question: see if you can name the song, the artist, and the episode!

Where Is Kazakhstan?
This round has nothing to do with Kazakhstan — that’s just the title. We’re going to show you a map and ask you to locate several places on it. You’ll firstly need to know the answer to the question, but just as importantly, you’ll also need to know where in the world that is.
Here’s your map.

And here are your questions…
22. Where was Fifteenth Doctor actor, Ncuti Gatwa born?
23. In Voyage of the Damned, Mr Copper believed the people of the UK went to war with which country every Christmastime?
24. Which island doubled for the planet Sarn in Planet of Fire and the moon’s surface in Kill the Moon?
25. In which City of Death did the Doctor meet Duggan?
26. In Time Crash, the Fifth and Tenth Doctors’ TARDISes colliding threatened to blow a hole in time and space the size of which country?
27. In 2026, Tarak Ital MD, a member of Bowie Base One, is born in which city?
Sorry, Wrong Number
In this round, all the answers include a number. But it’s not that simple: each question will also include a mathematical equation that you have to apply to your answer. So if we asked you the name of Chris Chibnall’s first Doctor Who story, but also that you needed to add five, the answer would be 47 — that is, 42 + 5.
28. What is the name of the serial featuring the Drahvins and the Rills? (x2)

Answer Smash

For this final round, you have two questions and you have to smash the answers together into one. So if you had the questions “the female incarnation of the Master” and “the eleventh book in the Virgin Missing Adventures series, written by Justin Richards”, the answer would be “Missystem Shock”, i.e. “Missy” and “System Shock” smashed together.
